The Fronteras variety has excellent size, color & flavor. It produces the bulk of its fruit in the shorter days of spring and fall, and is one of the most popular Short Day Varieties in California & Mexico.

A new cultivar released by UC Davis, Victor is a high-yielding variety that produces firmer fruit than Fronteras. It has shown resistance to Fusarium wilt, Phytophthora crown rot, and Neopestalotiopsis.

Another UC Davis Variety, Camino Real produces a larger, darker fruit. It has a very good flavor, and is outstanding for both fresh-market & processing.

Released in 2023, this UC cultivar produces early and full season yields higher than Fronteras and Victor, and has strong resistance to Fusarium, Phytophthora, and Verticillium, and has exceptional flavor.

Also released in 2023, Surfline is another short day variety with significantly improved early and full season yields, and it also has strong resistance to Fusarium, Phytophthora, and Verticillium. Production on this cultivar will be earlier than Monarch.

One of the newest UF cultivars, Ember is named after bright red external fruit color. It has excellent early yields, and has a stronger overall disease resistance package, which features moderate tolerance to Neopestalotiopsis.

Another new UF cultivar, Encore is considered to be the new and improved version of Florida Brilliance (which is a grandparent of this cultivar). It is a robust and easy to grow plant, that produces, large, flavorful fruit with consistent conically shaped berries.

Released in 2020, Medallion is widely considered one of the best tasting strawberry varieties. It is an early yielding variety featuring a compact plant structure with fewer runners, which makes it well suited for early fall planting.

Released by the University of Florida and commercialized in 2018, the Brilliance is a high yielding variety that is named for its attractive fruit, which are firm, glossy, & conical in shape.

A larger-sized berry discovered by University of Florida, this variety produces fruit that are uniform in shape throughout the season, resulting in few non-marketable fruit. Sensation has excellent flavor as well.

Pearl is the first white-fruited strawberry released by the University of Florida. It is a hybrid between descendants of Japanese white berries and red Florida berries, that have a pure white color with red seeds.

Adelanto is advertised as an "Ultra Early" Short Day variety, and is renowned for its rapid establishment and early fruit production. Those looking to capitalize on first-to-market advantages should look no further.

Another popular CBC Short day variety, Belvedere stands out for its good shelf life and ship-ability characteristics. It also has a stronger disease resistance profile, featuring strong resistance to Macrophomina.

Castaic a newly released short day cultivar which demonstrates potential for impressive yield potential with strong production consistency. Current testing suggests moderate disease resistance profile, with further data becoming available soon.
